A Florida man is being charged with one count of first degree murder in the death of New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner.

Just after noon on Thursday, Skinner was making a traffic stop on I-81 in Broome County when a pickup truck being driven by Almond Upton, 60 struck and killed him.

State Police say Upton allegedly changed lanes and hit Trooper Skinner intentionally before side-swiping the car that was being pulled over.

Upton then left his vehicle and led police on an hour long chase into the woods near the area before being caught and arrested.

Upton is currently being held in the Broome County Jail without bail.
