COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The head of the conservative Koch brothers' flagship political organization is saying a Republican winning the presidency in 2016 is becoming a higher priority for more of its members than finding an ideologically pure one.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips tells The Associated Press, there is "a sense of urgency about the future," unlike he has seen since the group started a decade ago.

The well-funded economic conservative group spent roughly $30 million on advertising against Barack Obama in 2012, has a 2016 budget of roughly $125 million and operates chapters in 36 states.

Roughly 3,000 members convened Friday and Saturday in Columbus, Ohio for the group's annual summit, where five GOP presidential candidates spoke.

Drew Klein of Iowa says, more members see "there is no perfect candidate."
