Forestport Man Arrested for Possessing a Stolen Handgun

A Forestport man is facing felony charges following a report of shots fired near a residence on Buck Lane in Forestport.

State Police and State DEC officers responded to the area of the complaint, and following an investigation they found 69-year-old Peter Matthews allegedly in possession of a stolen .40 caliber handgun.

Matthews was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Matthews was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash/ $60,000 bond bail.
