Former Cubs, Indians and Yankees pitcher Kerry Wood came across a dead body while paddle boarding in Chicago's Belmont Harbor on Monday, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Reports indicate that Wood, who retired in May of 2012, immediately notified authorities.

Police have been able to identify the man, however, authorities had not released his identity at the time of this posting.

Officers notified Area North detectives and took photos of the body, according to the report.  On the victim's left wrist was an identification tag indicating the man had been reporting missing by a North Side nursing home after being released by a local hospital on June 19, the report said.
