Former NYS Corrections Officer Arrested

Marcy, NY (WIBX) - State Police have arrested a former State Corrections Officer on charges of promoting prison contraband and official misconduct.

Investigators say 56-year old Sandra Steele of Utica smuggled her cell phone into the Midstate Correctional Facility and allowed a number of inmates to use it while she was working there.

The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by State Police and the State Department of Correctional Services Inspector General's Office.
