Sylvan Beach, NY (WIBX) - About forty fishermen were fishing on Oneida Lake in Sylvan Beach when the ice cracked and began drifting away.

Soon there was a 50-foot gap of nearly-frozen water but they quickly discovered that the water was only a few feet deep.

State Police and the Sylvan Beach Fire Department were on the scene but the fishermen were able to safely wade to shore, still carrying their fishing gear.
