Travelers on the New York State Thruway during the New Year's holiday can take comfort in knowing that free coffee and tea will be available at all service stops. This will help drivers stay awake and alert. In keeping with a 46-year-old tradition the Thruway Authority has announced they will once again offer this service to those ringing in the New Year on the road.

Acting Executive Director of the Thruway Authority Bill Finch says,

Our longstanding New Year’s Eve tradition of providing free hot coffee and tea to our customers serves as a friendly reminder to motorists to take a break during their holiday travelsThe Thruway Authority urges motorists to stay alert to ensure the safety of themselves and their fellow drivers during the busy holiday season and year-round.

The free beverages will be available starting at 11 p.m. on December 31st, 2016, and will be offered until 7 a.m. on January 1st, 2017. Another freebie being given away are E-ZPass velcro tags while supplies last.
