New York residents and visitors will be able to take advantage of several 'Free Fishing Days' throughout the summer.

Governor Cuomo is announcing that the weekend of June 28, and 29, fishing will be allowed without a license in any of the state's 7,500 lakes and ponds or 50,000 miles of rivers and streams.

Free fishing days are part of the 'NY Open For Fishing and Hunting Initiative' - that includes streamlining fishing and hunting licenses and reducing license fees.

Additional statewide free fishing dates will be announced later this summer.

New York's latest budget includes $4 million to repair fish hatcheries, and renews and allows expanded use of crossbows for hunting in New York.
