Utica, NY (WIBX) - Several children from the New York City area will be spending part of their summer up here.

The Fresh Air Fund Utica Area Committee will be welcoming a small group of children ages six to 18 years upon their arrival at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow, July 6, 2011 at Applebees in North Utica.

The independent, non-profit organization, provides free summer experiences every year to New York City children from low-income neighborhoods.

The kids spend summer vacations for a week or more, with volunteer host families throughout the Northeast and Canada.

Many of the visitors have participated in previous summers, but some will be leaving their homes in the City for their first time.

It is the Fund's 135th summer of serving children.
