The New York Giants committed nine penalties, four turnovers and allowed a punt return TD. It's not exactly a formula for success.

New York dropped to 0-2 to start the season, falling to the Arizona Cardinals - and backup rookie QB Drew Stanton - by a 25-14 final on Sunday.

Minus the turnovers, the Giants' offense was able to move the ball throughout the day, but kept getting bit by costly mistakes that erased ball possession. Eli Manning threw two more interceptions, but passed for 277 and two touchdowns. One of his passes, a screen to running back Rashad Jennings, resulted in a fumble as the Giants looked for a potential game tying touchdown and two point conversion with under five minutes left in the fourth.

It was nail in the coffin mistake as Jennings lost his footing without being touched, then lost possession as he hit the turf.

Ted Ginn Jr gave the Cardinals (2-0) a third quarter lead with 71 punt return for a touchdown, and they made the best of 167 yards and no turnovers from Stanton. Most of Arizona's offensive damage was done on the ground and with the help of very untimely penalties by the Giant secondary.

Andre Ellington carried the ball 15 times for 91 yards and Jonathan Dwyer had a touchdown on nine carries for 31 yards for the Cards. Larry Fitzgerald had six grabs and high 51 yards.

Larry Donnell was once again the Giants' team leader in catches and yards - 7 for 81 - while Victor Cruz caught five for 60. Jennings finished with 99 all purpose yards.

The Giants host the Texans in Week 3 while the Cardinals are home against the 49ers.
