Motorists are paying a little less at the pumps this week.

Gas prices in Central New York are down two cents a gallon, according to AAA Northeast.

The average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.73 a gallon, the same as the statewide average.  A year ago, the average price in New York state was 26 cents lower at $2.47.

AAA Northeast General Manager Ed Welsh says sluggish demand coupled with growing crude stocks have paused steadily rising oil prices. leading to the decrease.

The New York price is 20 cents above the national average.
