Gas prices in New York state are up three cents a gallon this week.

That's according the latest survey released by AAA Northeast.

General Manager Ed Welsh says the average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.76 a gallon, the same as the statewide average.

He says prices at the pump have gone up 12 cents over the last month.

Welsh says strong demand and steadily rising oil prices are fueling the increase.

The New York price is 16 cents above the national average and is 28 cents a gallon higher than this time last year.
