It's costing more to fill up your gas tank

Ed Welsh of AAA says prices in the Utica-Rome area have gone from $1.93 a gallon in late February to an average of $2.21 today.

Welsh says there are two factors behind the increase -- the switch to summer blend gasoline, which adds about 20 cents a gallon, and a slight increase in the price of crude oil.

He says prices are still about 40 cents a gallon cheaper than this time last year.

Welsh expects gas prices in the $2.30's for most of the summer, which he says is good news for consumers as we head toward the summer travel season.
