Utica, NY (WIBX) - It's that time again! Spring is in the air and that could only mean one thing -- the official start of the 2011 Mohawk Valley Regional Clean and Green Initiative. Ray Durso, Executive Director of The Genesis Group, said they are once again joining forces with Rome Clean and Green, one of six New York State affiliates of the national Keep American Beautiful Program, to support the 2011 beautification campaign.

Durso said, "This Campaign will take place throughout the month of April, that will be highlighted by the national clean up day on Saturday, April 23rd. We are encouraging property owners and business owners, and citizens  around the area to clean up their property, now that the snow has hopefully melted and gone for now."

Durso said teams of volunteers are already being assembled, and is encouraging all community organizations and anyone able to help out, to contact the Genesis Group to join a team, saying, "A cleaner community is a better community." Some of the work will include picking up garbage on major roadways throughout the greater Mohawk Valley. Many local organizations are joining the effort by donating, water, garbage bags, gloves and even ice cream to make it easier for volunteers taking part in Regional Clean & Green Initiative.
