Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Congressman Richard Hanna are introducing bi-partisan legislation that would help grow the manufacturing industry in upstate New York.

They were at Candella's Farm and Greenhouses in Marcy today to talk about the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act.

Gillibrand says the legislation would designates local regions like the Mohawk Valley as Manufacturing Communities.  She says that would put them in front of the line to receive federal economic development funding specifically for the purpose of investing in manufacturing.

The lawmakers say being designated a Manufacturing Community would help grow and expand the region's food and beverage manufacturing sector and create more jobs.

The program is set to expire when President Obama leaves office and Gillibrand and Hanna want to make it permanent.
