A local attorney has thrown his hat into the ring for Utica City Court Judge.

Christopher Giruzzi announced his candidacy on Thursday at the Stanley Theater in Utica.

Christopher Giruzzi announced his candidacy on Thursday at the Stanley Theater in Utica.

Giruzzi says in his 19 years in private practice, he's dealt with all facets of law that a City Court Judge faces, including criminal, civil and traffic.

He also pointed to his five years as Town Justice in Frankfort, when he oversaw the same types of cases as those that are seen in City Court.

Giruzzi attended Utica Public Schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy.

Current City Court Judge John Balzano is retiring at the end of the year.
