NEW YORK (AP) — Trading was halted on the New York Stock Exchange in the late morning because of a technical issue.

The halt occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Eastern time Wednesday. The exchange calls it an internal issue, not the result of a security breach, and says it's working to resolve it as quickly as possible.

NYSE-listed stocks are still trading on other exchanges. The Nasdaq and other exchanges are unaffected by the outage.

UPDATED 4:45 pm- Stocks are in negative territory after a more-than-three-hour halt in trading on the New York Stock Exchange.  The exchange says the halt was due to a technical problem, and says there was no cyber breach.  Stocks continued trading in other markets, and were in the red all day amid concerns about the Chinese economy.  The Dow fell 261 points to 17-515.
