Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Special Olympics is hoping to raise $100,000 by getting you to "Toss Your Boss, Throw Your Teacher or Pitch Your President" over the edge of the Adirondack Bank Building on Genesee Street. Organizer Maria Alberico says the money will benefit area programs and allow current programs to continue operating in the central region. "We serve 51,809 athletes in the State of New York. We brought in 1,500 athletes this past summer. We're looking for rappellers to have donations of at least $1,000 to rappel and that funding will keep programs alive and invite more athletes to participate in the program," she said.

The event is taking place on August 11th and 12th. Officials say the event is "completely safe" and the project will be conducted with a professional climbing organization that is OSHA certified.
