Governor Andrew Cuomo made his way to the Village of Mohawk at around 7 p.m. tonight to talk to residents about the recent flooding.

He stressed that safety is the most important issue and should remain the first priority.

When asked questions about when FEMA will start helping citizens rebuild, he said that FEMA is already here assessing the damage.

When a full assessment is completed they will start accepting claims, but the first thing to do is contact your private insurance provider.

If you don't have insurance, you can still submit a claim to FEMA once the process begins.

Cuomo says that should be within the next three days.
