Grafton Residents Not Ready For Vote On Wind Project
GRAFTON, Vt. (AP) The chair of Grafton's select board says residents of the town are not ready to vote on a 28-turbine wind project proposed along the Windham-Grafton town line.
Vermont Public Radio reports (http://bit.ly/2bKZDFX ) officials at Spanish energy company Iberdrola Renewables had hoped the two Vermont towns would vote on the 96.6-megawatt project on Election Day this November.
Instead, the Grafton Select Board plans to conduct an informal poll that will be sent to full-time residents as well as second homeowners.
Iberdrola spokesman Paul Copleman says the company feels that a vote by Grafton's registered voters is an important step in moving the project forward.
Copleman wouldn't say whether Iberdrola plans to apply for a state permit next year without results of a vote in both Grafton and Windham.
