Curtis Granderson smacked a grand slam in the second inning to welcome Detroit's Casey Crosby to the big leagues while propelling C.C. Sabathia to his seventh win of the year as New York topped the Tigers 9-4 on Friday night.

Sabathia (7-2) threw seven innings of eight hit, three run ball.

For Granderson, it was his 17th round-tripper of the season and runs his RBI total up to 33.

Alex Rodriguez hit his eighth big-fly of the year in the ninth, a two-run shot, and Derek Jeter picked up two more hits the pinstripes (28-23).

Crosby(0-1) was charged with six runs in 3 1/3 innings in his Major League debut.

Rafeal Soriano pitched to one batter in the ninth, inducing a game ending double-play for his seventh save, after Clay Rapada loaded the bases.

Quintin Berry and Delmon Young each had three hits Detroit, while Ramon Santiago had a solo-home run, his first of the season.
