More than $2.8 million in federal funding is headed to Griffiss International Airport in Rome.

The funding was allocated through the FAA and announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

The money will enable the airport to build a new snow removal equipment building.

“I am pleased to add this $2.8 million federal grant to the list of ‘arrivals’ at Griffiss International Airport,” said Schumer. “The funding will help the airport enhance its safety and efficiency by allowing it to store the snow removal equipment needed to protect the airport from wintry weather conditions. For New York airports, both big and small, safety comes first.”
