(WIBX) - Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi are wrapping up several days' of meetings with top state officials about regional development priorities, including the need to protect defense-related assets and area mental health facilities.

Senator Griffo said that he wanted to make the Governor aware of the impact of state actions on Onedia County, and ensure that Governor Cuomo is actively engaged in those issues by making the community's case "face to face."

Assemblyman Brindisi said that leadership to protect the defense industry begins at the top and it is necessary to strengthen teamwork in order to protect the region.

Both legislators characterised the meetings as a "beginning," and stressed that conversations would be ongoing in Albany.
