Rome will be getting $200,000 in state funding for capital projects in the city.

Senator Joseph Griffo says the city will use $150,000 to buy a portable mobile stage that can be used for various community events.

Griffo says the portable stage will be owned and operated by the City of Rome and could be used by neighboring localities for their own events.

He says another $50,000 will be used for improvements at Veterans Memorial Park and Gansevoort Park on North James Street.

Griffo was joined by Mayor Jacqueline Izzo and former Rome Mayor Carl Eilenberg for today's announcement.

“As we continue striving to enhance what the City of Rome has to offer its community, I want to thank Senator Griffo for always being supportive and stepping up to deliver for our city,” Mayor Izzo said. “These funds secured by the Senator will help improve our park system and the quality of life for our residents.
