State lawmakers representing the Mohawk Valley and Niagara County are introducing legislation that would create a disaster recovery fund.

The bill, sponsored by Senator Joseph Griffo, would create a supplemental fund to provide individual assistance, public assistance and hazard mitigation after a natural or man-made disaster.

Aid would be available for variety of disaster-related expenses.

Co-sponsors of the bill include Senators James Seward and David Valesky.

The legislation is the centerpiece of a six-point plan proposed by the senators in response to last June's massive flooding.
