Utica, NY (WIBX) - Two local legislators will be sworn in together at elementary schools in Rome and Utica.

State senator Joe Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi will be sworn in on Friday morning at 9:30, at Bellamy Elementary School in Rome. City Court Judge Daniel Wilson will perform the ceremony in the school's gymnasium.

At 11:30, Griffo and Brindisi will take the oath of office again in Utica, at Watson-Williams Elementary School, in front of City Court Judge, Ralph Eannace. Once again, the ceremony will take place in the school's gym.

Griffo says by performing the oaths in front of students, it promotes a new generation of political involvement.

"We are sowing the seeds of future involvement in the hopes that tomorrow's voters and leaders will look back on this as a memorable event in which they became part of their government," Griffo said.

The public is invited to attend both ceremonies. Those who would like more information are encouraged to contact Senator Griffo's office at (315) 793-9072 or Assemblyman Brinidisi's office at (315) 732-1055.
