Senator Joseph Griffo says the arrest of Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos on corruption charges is disheartening and disconcerting since he's always known Skelos to be a fair and good man, as well as an effective leader.

He says the matter is now in the hands of the criminal justice system and we have to accept the process, including the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise. He says we must allow the legal process to unfold accordingly without jumping to any premature conclusions.

Griffo's name has emerged as a possible successor to Skelos.

The Senator's Communications Director Rocco LaDuca says the mention of Griffo's name as a possible candidate for Majority Leader is a reflection of the respect and trust that Griffo has garnered through his public service over the years, as far as his abilities and talents.

But LaDuca says the Senate is entering a period of uncertainty right now, so we'll have to see how this all plays out.
