Utica, NY (WIBX) - Senator Joe Griffo has secured $600,000 in state funding to help Oneida County's consolidation of 911 emergency communications systems.

The money will be used to cover the costs of adding the city of Utica to the communities covered by the 911 Emergency Communications Center in Whitestown

Griffo says the consolidation of 911 systems is an important step forward in regional cooperation and in providing top-quality service to the residents of the county.

County Executive Anthony Picente says consolidation of the county's three 911 centers into one has been a major accomplishment of his administration and the state funding will help with transitional costs.
