State Senator Joseph Griffo is continuing his push to ban the sale of powdered alcohol in New York State.

Earlier this year, Griffo reintroduced legislation that would prohibit anyone from selling powdered alcohol in New York.

But now that the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has approved Palcohol for commercial sale, Griffo says the potentially dangerous product should be outlawed statewide before it can get into the wrong hands.

“With drug and alcohol abuse already wreaking havoc on the lives of some of our young people, we don’t need to make it any easier for them to fall victim to further harm,” Griffo said. “Powdered alcohol can easily be hidden in a pocket, or sneaked into schools, events or other public places where alcohol isn’t allowed.”

Last year the Senate passed Griffo's bill banning the sale of powdered alcohol, but the legislation did not make it through the Assembly.
