A public forum on heroin and opioid addiction will be held at the State Office Building in Utica on Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30.

It's being hosted by Senator Joseph Griffo.  The forum will take place In the first floor Conference Room A/B.

Representatives from the Center for Family Life and Recovery and Insight House, along with law enforcement, will be there to listen to the public and respond to any concerns.

Griffo says they also want to hear from the public.

Senator George Amedore, who co-chairs the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, will also be there.

The Senate recently passed a series of bills to deal with the heroin epidemic.

According to a report released this month, there's been a nearly 50 percent increase in opioid-related deaths statewide over the last five years.
