Albany, NY (WIBX) -Senator Joseph Griffo voted against the gun control bill passed in the state Senate.

Griffo says he could not support the legislation which was fast-tracked through the chamber last night.

He says the legislation that was voted on did not go through the usual legislative process and was certainly never negotiated in front of the public and in the light of day.

Griffo says despite the provisions he supported, there were far too many pieces of the bill that punish law-abiding citizens.

The senator says although there was some compromise in the final product, he does not believe there was enough of an emphasis on getting illegal guns out of the hand of criminals.
