The Humphrey Gardens affording housing development in North Utica is about to undergo a more than $2 million expansion.

Officials broke ground on a lot behind the existing 108 units on Friday morning.

By January, the plan is to erect two new buildings consisting of a dozen new apartments - five one bedroom units and seven two bedroom units, Robert Calli, interim Director of the Utica Municipal Housing Authority said:
