Ground was broken today for a new, 32,110 square foot corporate headquarters for NYSTEC at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park in Rome.

The building will include nearly 17,000 square feet of space leased to NYSTEC, with the rest of the building reserved for leasing to other technology companies.

NYSTEC announced this past spring that it would collaborate with Griffiss Local Development Corporation (GLDC) to allow for further expansion and increased employment.

The company expects to double its Rome-based employment over the next three years. NYSTEC, which advises agencies and businesses on a variety of technology-related issues, currently employs over 170 people.

"This is a great example of a company which started locally and has grown steadily through the years while not abandoning its roots.  Today's ceremony is another step forward in the continued growth of NYSTEC and the company's long-term commitment to Rome and Oneida County," said Elis DeLia Chairman of GLDC.

Construction of the two-story building is expected to cost more than $8.5 million.

Work has already begun at the site on the corner of Hangar Road and Otis Street.
