A man who had been a therapeutic aide has admitted having sexual contact with a girl after he signed her out of a New York state group home.

Authorities say 47-year-old Jarrett Coleman of Castleton has pleaded guilty in Albany County court to third-degree criminal sexual act, a felony.

Investigators with the state Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs said Coleman had worked for Northeast Parent and Child Society. Coleman acknowledged he signed the teenage girl out of the group home. He admitted giving her alcohol and engaging in sexual activity in a hotel room.

Coleman is scheduled to be sentenced on September 2. As part of a plea deal, he is to receive one year in jail, if he meets the conditions outlined by the court. One of the conditions is that Coleman register as a sex offender.
