Nathan Fillion, who has appeared in director James Gunn's previous films 'Slither' and 'Super,' as well as one of the director's 'PG Porn' shorts, will indeed be making an appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' -- though in a much smaller capacity than you might have assumed.

Today on Twitter, Gunn confirmed that his pal Nathan Fillion will be appearing in 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' but rumors of the actor playing a larger role as a member of the Nova Corps have been exaggerated.

It was previously assumed that Fillion would be playing Nova Prime, aka Richard Rider, who is supposedly making an appearance in the film. But as Gunn confirms, the 'Castle' star is merely making a small cameo in the new Marvel superhero film.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, and hits theaters on August 1.
