New York, NY (WIBX) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly say that the preliminary stages of the shooting investigation reveal that the gunman was man in his fifties.

The gunman, said to have been let go from Hazan Imports about a year ago, was killed by police.  At least one other person has also been killed.  The victim was 41 years old.  The identity is being withheld pending notification of the victim's family.

Hazan Imports is located at 10 West 33 Street in Manhattan, in close proximity to the Empire State Building.

Reports are that two other women and seven men were also injured in the gunfire.

Portions of the area surrounding the Empire State Building remain closed to traffic.
