Members of Hamilton College's Class of 2019 spent part of the Wednesday volunteering at one of more than 50 local organizations.

Today was Hamilton's 8th annual Hamilton Serves day.  It's an effort to get new students off the Hill and familiarize them with the local community while providing help to non-profits.

Sophomore Julia Dailey from Hastings-On-Hudson led a group of students at the Utica Public Library.  She says one day of service can make a difference, but the biggest part of it is that after this day, a lot of kids realize they want to continue doing service.

Students also helped out at sites including Hope House, the Neighborhood Center in Utica, the Ava Dorfman Center in Rome and the Mohawk Valley Center for Refugees.
