Clinton, NY (WIBX) - Earlier this year Hamilton College changed their admissions policy to join the small list of need-blind institutions across the country. The new admissions policy means the school will no longer consider an applicant's ability to pay their tuition and fees.

Also, on the heels of the policy change comes news of the launch of a new $117 million dollar campaign to raise the Institution's endowment. Campaign Chair Jeff Little said $40 million of the funds raised will go towards supporting the need-blind policy. Little said, "This campaign is shorter in duration and focused on fewer priorities than previous efforts because of the economy but our needs are clear, our lead donors have responded generously and the time is right to ensure Hamilton's leadership position in American higher education."

It is estimated that the additional financial aid needed to support the new direction the school is undertaking will cost $2 million dollars annually, after the policy is fully phased-in in 4 years.
