Washington, DC (WIBX)-Congressman Richard Hanna has been named Vice Chairman of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee. Committee Chairman, Republican, John Mica from Florida says Hanna's background in the construction industry and experience as a business owner makes him the right choice for the leadership position.

In a released statement, Hanna expressed his appreciation of the assignment on the Committee's largest subcommittee saying it will allow him to work directly on rebuilding our nation's infrastructure and putting people back to work. Hanna is also assigned to the Committee on Education and Labor and was recently appointed to the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials and the Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management.

On the heels of the Vice Chairman appointment, Congressman Richard Hanna is learning that he will be traveling with President Obama to Schenectady tomorrow. According to the Congressman, the President extended an invitation to him to travel on Air Force One to Upstate, NY, where Obama will be speaking at the GE plant in Schenectady on, "the importance of growing the economy and making America more competitive by investing in jobs, innovation and clean energy." NY Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is also traveling with the President on Air Force One to the area tomorrow.
