October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Congressman Richard Hanna was at the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees to talk about the role Congress can play in helping end domestic violence.

Hanna is calling on Congress to pass the International Violence Against Women Act.

He says that would show ending gender-based violence is a top diplomatic priority of the United States.

Hanna was a top advocate for the Violence Against Women Act, which was renewed by Congress in February of 2013.
