Washington, DC (WIBX) - A former construction worker turned congressman is becoming one of the driving forces behind discussions about a new highway bill.

Congressman Richard Hanna was just tapped by House Speaker John Boehner to join the House-Senate Conference Committee to determine highway funding.

Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica said that Hanna's 30-plus years as a business owner make him one of the "star" members of the committee.
