Washington, D.C. (WIBX) - Congressman Richard Hanna voted "No" on a proposal to raise the debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion.

Hanna says he voted against the bill because it does not include any spending cuts or budgetary reforms.

He says he understands raising the debt limit will eventually be necessary and he hopes when that time comes, it's accompanied by reforms that put the nation on a path to long-term fiscal responsibility.

The Barneveld Republican and other GOP House members met with President Obama at the White House today to discuss federal spending and raising the debt ceiling.
