Heavy Snow Blankets Upstate New York

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A fast-moving storm blanketed upstate New York with several inches or more of snow, creating hazardous conditions during the evening commute.

The National Weather Service said the storm sweeping across the state Wednesday dropped 5 inches of snow north of Buffalo by the afternoon and at least 3 inches in the Albany area. Totals were expected to edge higher by Thursday morning, with parts of the Adirondack Mountains expected to see close to a foot.

Dozens of school districts around the state closed for the day as the storm loomed.
