McDonald's is launching a new fancy burger line to compete with gourmet chain restaurants.  The problem is, for now, we won't be able to try them.  That's because only a small number of McDonalds restaurants in Great Britain are currently sampling the new 'signature line.'

The new series of burgers are the thickest McDonald's has ever served and they feature fresh ingredients and brioche buns, according to The Guardian. McDonalds says if the testing process does well, they'll expand into more restaurants and possibly in the United States.

Another beta-test is currently underway in New York City where one McDonald's there (corner of 58th Street and 3rd Ave in Midtown) is offering the Create Your Taste menu option.  Customers are encouraged to select from a list of new ingredients including guacamole, jalapeños, caramelized onions and spicy mayonnaise. Like with the gourmet burger test in Great Britain, the Create Your Taste menu could expand to other markets if it's successful in Manhattan.
