Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - The Herkimer County Public Health department has confirmed two cases of rabies during the past week.

According to the agency, a skunk found in the Town of Columbia and a raccoon found in the Town of Danube both tested positive for the disease.

Since December 7th, there have been four confirmed animals with rabies, including one in Fairfield and a second case in Danube.

People are reminded to never approach wild animals and to make sure pets are kept up-to-date on their shots.
