Herkimer County Women Facing Welfare Fraud Charges

Two women have been arrested for welfare fraud following two separate investigations by the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office Welfare Fraud Unit.

48-year old Michelle Risi of Mohawk allegedly failed to report income and fraudulently received public assistance.

Risi was charged with welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and petty larcney

Meanwhile, 33-year old Christy Potter of Poland is also accused of failing to report household income and fraudulently receiving public assistance.

Potter was charged with two counts of grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.
