Herkimer Generals Hire Mens Lacrosse Coach, Former Player

Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - The Herkimer County Community College Mens Lacrosse team has a new coach, former NJCAA 2004 Player of the Year Jamie Ireland.

Ireland in an HCCC graduate and was part of the Herkimer Generals 2003 National Championship team. He's also played lacrosse for Syracuse University and the Long Island Lizards, a pro team in the MLL.

The Herkimer Generals lacrosse program has a celebrated history as a national junior college lacrosse powerhouse, with 9 national and 21 regional championships.

Ireland played for Lacrosse Hall of Fame Coach Paul Wehrum. Wehrum, currently in his 6th season coaching Union College's Mens Lacrosse team, was please with the new hire.
