Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - Students at Herkimer High School were silenced by their principal after an early morning protest against teacher lay-offs. Principal Terry Dangle, took a combative stance against WIBX who was there to cover the event, demanding that the reporter leave the school premises, and refusing to allow the students to continue to protest.

Dangle told the students they could not give any interviews and angrily instructed them to return to their class rooms. The nearly 20 students protesting with signs at the entrance of the school, dispersed, telling the reporter that they will assemble again later today, to take a stance against teacher lay-offs.
