Mohawk, NY (WIBX) - They're talking consolidation in the Valley again. This time Frankfort's out; leaving Herkimer, Mohawk and Ilion Central School Districts looking to merge into one small "A" Class School District.

Ilion Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra says if the merger is approved by voters, they will be able to offer students a much better program. "These three communities, Ilion, Mohawk and Herkimer, approved the measure at the last public referendum" said Tangorra, adding "when I look at the data that's been generated by the study for the three district, it doesn't appear to me that anyone that was opposed to the four-way, would be opposed the the three-way".

Herkimer School Board President John Sipriano says all three districts have been talking informally about a merger for years.

Tonight about 100 people showed up to hear more about the new reorganization  feasibility study at Jarvis High School in Mohawk. It was the first of several public  information meetings that will be held around all three districts over the next few weeks.
