The Herkimer Police Department will be adding hours that the Herkimer County 911 Center will dispatch calls for service.

Starting on January 15th, the 911 Center will take calls for the Herkimer PD Monday through Thursday from 7:00 to 7:00 and from 7:00 p.m. on Friday to Monday at 7:00 a.m.

There will not be a police officer assigned to the police desk during those hours -- which adds another officer to active patrol.

A phone has been installed outside of the Herkimer Village Hall, which will automatically dial into the Police Department.

If not answered in three rings, it will immediately roll over to the 911 Dispatch Center.

Once the call is taken by a Dispatcher, an Officer will be assigned to respond to the Police Station to handle the complaint.
